Tumblr via IM

First thing I was looking for when I created my Tumblr account was some kind of a IM bot which would allow me to post new stuff without going to tumblr dashboard (or using 3rd party apps). IMing stuff is just faster and portable.

Of course something like this exists - however the only supported network is AIM - that makes the bot practically useless for me, because:

  • I don’t use AIM
  • Creating an account just for one tool would be plainly stupid (although tumblr is worth it :))

Since I’ve been user of polish blogging platform jogger which is built around Jabber (aka XMPP) protocol - that means that whole interaction with your blog (i.e. posting new stuff, comments) is done via Jabber bot directly from your IM app - so the idea of blogging via IM wasn’t new to me (and I’m kinda used to it).

Trust me - this is very usefull stuff - my favorite feature is responding to comments via IM - no more “open browser - look for the post - add comment stuff”, just add the post’s #id, write your comment - and off we go. That’s what makes jogger community live and guaranties that every post will be commented (the quality of comments is not guaranteed ;))

What about Tumblr?

Imified is the answer!

just add the bot to your user list (Jabber/GTalk, MSN and AIM supported) and choose option 4 to setup your account. Fast, intuitive and useful.

Imified isn’t limited to tumblr - users can associate many more services for example Google Calendar (Yay!), Twitter (what for? Twitter has native support for Jabber), del.icio.us and many more. Of course (I love this trend!) API is available so we can expect more services to be supported

So - show Imified some love, because it’s one of those services (among gazillion of the ones being created every 15 minutes) that deserves to be used :)

Of course - this post was sent via Imified!
